- Consumer Gluttony : The excess consumption of any material good in order to fill the void left by normal American existence.
So what is this? One thing it is not is a complete shunning of any and all material goods. What this blog hopes to be is an exploration, by a twenty-something materialist American, of how to shift from consumer gluttony to more balanced and environmentally friendly existence with things. I will still continue to buy things, just maybe less and then maybe different things. Throughout this blog I will be exploring what makes Americans so materialistic and why do we try to fulfill our emotional and spiritual needs by the perpetually buying more and more things. So I'm going to try and discover alternatives to excess consumption, and then I'm going to explore different activities to fill the time that shopping used to take up. Hopefully this helps me do better and maybe along the way it can impact the buying habits or at the very least the outlook of other consumers.
